“Rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation: that’s what self-care is all about.”
Editor’s note: A First Generation Professional (FGP) is the “first” in their immediate family to earn a 4-year college degree and/or obtain a higher level professional position than what was held by either parent.
Rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation: that’s what self-care is all about.
As First Generation Professionals, we typically juggle multiple responsibilities—balancing home and family, while maintaining work and/or school responsibilities. Practicing self-care allows you to carve out time in your day or week to do something for yourself.
With October being #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, and as a breast cancer survivor, I am reminded of the importance of self-care. I know first-hand that self-care can save your life.
Self-care simply refers to any activity you do to take care of your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The MorenoMethod teaches that self-care can transform your life by reducing stress, increasing your energy, preventing burn-out, and improving interpersonal relationships.
In my workshops, we take a closer look at various ways we can practice self-care. We consider mindfulness meditation, the importance of physical activity, and connecting with your community on an emotional and spiritual level.
Clients have reported that when they practiced self-care, they found greater focus, more energy, and could think more clearly.
It’s vitally important that we take the time to take care of ourselves to be able to handle taking care of others and our many responsibilities.
What is the most helpful thing you are doing for yourself right now? To learn more about the MorenoMethod and Self-Care, sign up for my online workshop on Wednesday, October 12th 6:30pm-7:30pm Pacific Time. Hope to see you there!
Be well,
